Miss 16′s Brownies ~ to die for or get fat from

Brownie’s aren’t something that I tend to cook.  In our home, Miss16 our youngest daughter has ownership of brownie cooking…but what is a girl to do when she requires a chocolate fix and the aforementioned teen won’t budge from underneath her blanket, in front of the tv, I ask you??

Chocolate Raspberry Tart

This tart is a taste sensation! Seriously, it was a taste explosion from sweet to tart from tart to sweet. The dark chocolate pastry shell is dark bitter chocolate, then the chocolate confectioner’s custard is sweet then the raspberries on top are tart and then the raspberry coulis is sweet and the King Island Cinnamon Yoghurt sits somewhere between sweet and tart. My mouth is watering again while I’m writing about it….Good Lord it was awesome!!!
 

Friand Frenzy

I made these friands this evening; they’re okay in flavour and texture, but not stellar. I’m not sure if it’s because they were not baked in the eliptical shape or not. It may well be the recipe. I shall look for other recipes and try again.
I love English bone china. I don’t have a lot, but I keep my eye out for special pieces whilst out and about. I don’t buy very often, only when a really special piece catches my fancy. I love the spring feel about this china and the runner it is sitting on.

This is the magazine/book the friands are from. I’m hoping the other recipes are better.

They looked so good in the picture; I didn’t put icing sugar on mine. In retrospect the icing sugar makes them look great, but I’m not sure that it would have enhanced the flavours; rather, overpowered them. If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

 

Black Forest Cherry Cake for Christmas

Who doesn’t love Black Forest Cherry cake???? No one in my family that’s for sure!!! I finished making this one this afternoon for our Christmas Day dessert.
