I made these friands this evening; they’re okay in flavour and texture, but not stellar. I’m not sure if it’s because they were not baked in the eliptical shape or not. It may well be the recipe. I shall look for other recipes and try again.
I love English bone china. I don’t have a lot, but I keep my eye out for special pieces whilst out and about. I don’t buy very often, only when a really special piece catches my fancy. I love the spring feel about this china and the runner it is sitting on.
This is the magazine/book the friands are from. I’m hoping the other recipes are better.
They looked so good in the picture; I didn’t put icing sugar on mine. In retrospect the icing sugar makes them look great, but I’m not sure that it would have enhancedthe flavours; rather, overpowered them. If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.
